Hemp. It's not just for Woodstock anymore.

You can sprinkle these protein packed morsels on anything from soup to salad to oatmeal. This recipe serves six, so if you only want to make one bowl, just prepare a bowl of oatmeal according to package directions and add 3T. of hemp hearts. You’ll want to make the full batch of strawberry puree because it will last for about 5 days in the fridge and you’ll want to pour it on everything, because it’s super yummy. You can also use raspberries, blueberries or any berry at all.

  • 4 cups instant oatmeal
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 7 cups water
  • 1 c. + 2 T.  Hemp Hearts
  • 2 cups strawberries, sliced
  • 2 T. agave nectar or maple syrup
  • 1/2 T. lemon juice
  • 2 T. coconut sugar
  • pinch Kosher salt
  • 3 T. chopped pistachios
  • edible flowers (optional)



  1. Blend strawberries, agave nectar, coconut sugar and lemon juice in a blender or food processor until fully blended. Put in saucepan and bring to boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.  Set aside and let cool.
  2. Mix oatmeal, salt and water and microwave for 60-90 seconds (or according to package directions). Remove and stir thoroughly. Add hemp and stir thoroughly. Put in six bowls.
  3. Top with strawberry puree. Garnish with pistachios and fresh flowers (optional).
